Seeking new suitemate

Due to one suitemate unexpectedly taking the year off, my friends and I are looking for someone interested in moving into our suite during fall room changes.

The room in question is a single in a five-person suite in 616. We're four seniors more likely to be home watching TV than going out to parties on a Saturday night, and we're looking for anyone nice and friendly and willing to share our living space!

We would like to find someone to request in order to avoid being assigned someone random, so if you're interested in a room change, please let me know!

Desperately seeking a room change

Hi everyone. I hope this community still has some people looking!

I am a rising senior, and I got screwed over by financial aid for housing. I was originally living in a special interest housing with my friends at Columbia. I started living there last semester and was planning on continuing through this year. However, late in July, I was told by financial aid that I would only qualify for aid if I was living at Barnard.

So, I contacted housing about the situation and they said that I could only be put on the waitlist. A few weeks ago, I find out that I was lucky enough to make it off the list. I got a nice double in 110 with its own bathroom and kitchen, with an incredible view.

However, my room late contacts me several times and begins to play passive aggressive mind games. She says a lot of crazy things, but to sum it up she introduces herself as a "psycho bitch" who has forced every one of her room mates to move out. Then she also sends me a text saying she will "break me" and I should "watch out". I did nothing to cause any of this! I'm a quiet girl who never had any roommate problems in the past.

Basically, I am scared to live with her, despite the high quality of the room. I want to enjoy my senior year and even before I moved in, she is causing problems. Does anyone happen to have a free room in their suite or double or anything? Have a friend going abroad first or second semester and need the room to be occupied?

More about me: I'm a psychology major changing to Neuroscience and behavior this semester. I am part of the SGA. I do photography for the spectator and other photo groups around campus. I dance for Orchesis. I am also involved in a lot of volunteer work. ( I won't be in the dorm, a lot just want some place I can come home to and feel comfortable). I'm also pre med, going to be taking the mcat this year. I'm quiet and clean. I like to cook. I don't drink often (only some weekends, never in the dorm, and never past a tipsy point) and I don't smoke. I also don't have a boyfriend and don't plan on bringing over any guys.

I'm looking to live with some level minded people, who are able to discuss issues like mature individuals. I'm really not picky! If you have any open space at all please message me.

Sorry for any typos, I wrote this on my phone.

Hi everyone!  I read the comm rules, and  I'm going to try and make this NOT sound like someone asking you to predict my chances, but:

What happens to the waitlisters?  Are any of you waitlisters who got accepted?  Is it a bad year this time for waitlisters?

I was put on the waitlist this morning and have already accepted the waitlist spot, along with sending an email reaffirming my interest.  Do you think I should maybe wait a week and then send another email talking about some achievements that aren't in my original application?  Or would that be overkill?

I can't visit or anything, because I live in Vietnam for some reason. T.T

The thing is, I'm absolutely desperate to go to Barnard, though I was accepted to another college with a good scholarship.  Barnard is the dream, and it's my first choice!

Question from hopeful prospective

I'm a high school junior and planning on applying to Barnard early decision next fall. I've been trying to read up on this elsewhere but haven't had much luck aside from quoted stats which just tend to scare me, though for most of them, I'm 'in range'. But, long story short, ridiculously small school (100 students/class) and not totally confident that I will be in the top ten percent of that class. Basically, I'm afraid that my rank, while still unknown, could potentially hurt my overall application. I'm not asking for a prediction of admittance-just wondering if any of you have some words of wisdom regarding rank, low(er) ranks, and or how much that 'matters' in reality.

Congratulations Barnard Class of 2009!!!

Hope you all are having a wonderful day with your friends and family, and that the weather was just right (it rained on my graduation day (2006) and my class was the first one in pretty much 20 years to have an indoor ceremony) and good luck with all your future plans!!

P.S.  Anyone going to med school?  =)
